We've added some new regular chores for the kiddos (in the past we've been a bit sporadic about it). They are responsible for making their beds every morning as well as the following: Cobb(empty dishwasher), Charly (feed the dog), and Ridge(set the table--dinner). They are also required to get all the way dressed for school, prepare their snack and water bottles for school, and eat breakfast before doing anything else.
SO. . . We started Tuesday. Yesterday a.m. (Wednesday), I came out of my room late (6:45) after icing my foot, and found Cobb fully dressed and empyting the dishwasher.
WOW! I got a little teary eyed. I know it's his job, but I was just so impressed that he needed no reminder or proding on the SECOND day! Thanks sweet boy, you made my day!
And then I went to wake up Charly and found this:
Thank you Charly!!! So so sweet.
I had reminded Ridge to get dressed so when I came back downstairs (remember it takes me a little while to get anywhere these days), I found this:
Yes, you are right. His shorts are under his pull-up. (he wears a pull-up for school just in case!)
Sweet boy, you make me laugh.
My kids have actually been so kind to me this past week because I tend to sit down a lot with my foot raised in the air. They have brought me pillows, put my ice away or brought me ice. They have fixed their own snacks and their own drinks. And my older two have done a wonderful job helping Ridge when he needs it. Now, I'm not saying that they are perfect in any way, but I can tell they are trying hard to help me. THANKS. I love you! Hope it doesn't crash and burn when Mommy is all better!

Funny Things Said
So I'm still hobbling around with my boot. I asked Ridge to get me a pillow for under my foot. He brought over two pillows and told me, "Mommy, you can have one of these pillows, but not two. It's God's rules that you can only use one pillow to make your foot better."
Today Charly's teacher told me that they were talking about goals in their class. Charly said, "I have a goal for outside of class. My goal is to have everyone over to my house at least once." My sweet social butterfly.
Cobb told me today that his leg hurt, especially when he runs. I asked why, and he said, "well, it must be that I sprained my ankle like you did." I sure hope not!

Ridge's 1st Day!
Ridge had his first day of preschool today. Thankfully he changed his tune on school a bit, and decided that he was excited to go. It was pouring rain when we arrived at the school so I was trying to carry him, the camera, and his backpack while battling the umbrella in the wind and rain. Sweet Ridge said, "Mommy, I too heavy for you. I can walk. I'm big, and it's okay that I get wet." My boy is growing up!
Here he is not wanting to stop for pictures, but wants to keep going to his class. . .
He is in a class with his buddy Cruse. Cruse was a little nervous, so Ridge told me, "don't worry mommy. I can babysit Cruse. I can give him a bandaid if he gets cared."
His teacher, Mrs. Peggi:

Unfortunately, the day didn't go as well for me. I sprained my ankle playing wallyball this morning.
Unfortunately, it looks even worse now!
My sweet friend Dr. John Heinrich gave me a boot. He says I need to wear it for 4 weeks (not sure I'm going to be able to do that Dr. John!!) It is helping with the pain though, and as he said, it does remind me that I have a sprained ankle! Mandatory slow down.
FLASHBACK
Here's one of my favorite videos of Cobb. He had just turned 3 yrs old.

A Day of Friends
Today we had our cousins Bo and Hank over to play. Bo and Ridge had such a good time posing and running around. Both have lost older siblings to school, and now are home alone with mommy (and Hank for Bo). So I think it was a nice for both of them to have a playmate.
Hank was the sweetest baby. So content the whole time. Isn't he cute?
But don't let him fool you! He was infatuated with the dog, and continued to crawl after poor Mulligan. And gotcha!
Don't worry, I was watching carefully. :)
Later, after school, we had a friend for each kid. Jett and Jake came over to hang with Ridge and Cobb.
And Charly had over her new friend Hannah from school.
Such a fun day! We are blessed to have friends and cousins we love so much.
