Thanksgiving Fun

We had such a great time over Thanksgiving. We went to the 4th bi-annual Cobb Reunion. We get together at Camp Allen in Navasota, TX with my dad's sisters & their families.
Here's my sisters & cousins (missing 5):

Here's everyone(well, we're actually missing 23 people):

We went from 4 (Dad & sisters) to 14(my cousins) to 30 and counting!

Here's my family:

We started the next morning with a talent show. The best was my mom & Dad's sisters performing Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)"
(working on gettting the actual video footage so you can see)

Here's the kids & their cousins waiting for a "Marvin Story." Rob tells my kids a story with the same characters every night. It's become a bedtime tradition in our house & a consistent request.

We took our Christmas card picture and a few others. Here's some samples:

Cobb & Charly went fishing for the first time & loved it!

Charly didn't want to touch it, but she was really proud!

The kids feeding the ducks outside our cabin. Cobb's doing a duck call:

Smores Time!

"See my marshmellow mommy??"

Rob leading us in singing "Party in the USA."

We had so much fun with everyone. Cobb didn't want to leave, and was really emotional leaving. Sweet boy gets really connected to others, and was so so sad it was over.
He got over it when we started a movie in the car, and the other two crashed.

Happy Birthday to my Hubby!!

I'm 4 days late in writing this, but better late than never! (Rob's real birthday was on Thanksgiving Day this year so I'm pulling the "I didn't have my computer with me" card. But that's really no excuse).

I am so grateful to the Lord for putting this man in my life. He brings joy, laughter, fun, and stability to this family. He makes me a better person, encouraging me and challenging me. He is an wonderful daddy to our kids & they absolutely adore him. He loves us very well, and we have a lot to look up to in him: his kindness, compassion, humility, generosity, humor, and love for Christ.

Thank you Lord for what you are doing in Rob and through Rob. Thank you for the treasure that he is, and may you continue to grow us both to be more like you.

Poor Ridge just wants to make new friends

Ridge tries to play basketball with a girl and her daddy... only he's never met them.

There's Nothin I Can Do About It.

So I'm changing Ridge's diaper, and of course, the much needed wipes have "walked off" to somewhere else in the house.

Me (with a sigh of frustration, talking to myself): Where are the wipes?
Ridge: I don't know mommy. And there's nothin I can do about it right now.
Me(laughing to myself): I know. You stay right there. (risky move, I know!)

When I return with the wipes, he is thankfully still lying there on the floor in the exact same position. I can tell he's been thinking hard about something.

Ridge: you know mommy, there's a bad guy
Me: really?
Ridge: yea, but don't worry mommy, Daddy will save you.
Me: Daddy will save me?
Ridge: Yes, Daddy's the good guy.
Me: You're right. He is a good guy. What about you? will you save me too?
Ridge: There's nothin I can do about it. But daddy can.

Three things I learned from this conversation:
1) He listens to what I say. I've said many times, "I'm so sorry Ridge. There's nothing I can do about it right now. I'm driving."
2)He is obsessed with good guys & bad guys.
3)I always need to check for wipes before starting the process of changing a diaper

Ummmm.... I think I said

DON'T throw the frisbee in the house.

It's hard to see, but the glass on this picture is shattered. . .

Cobb's reaction was "oops!"

Got it fixed the same day at Hobby Lobby. :)

My tag along Chicago Trip

The last week of October I tagged along with Rob on a business trip to Chicago. While there, I went up to Winnetka, Il to visit my dear friend Genny. I loved it there! So beautiful.
Here's the view from her porch:

We walked down to the beach along this path:

Here's the beach:

And Genny! It was so good to see her and get to hang with her. We don't get to see each other near enough!

It was so peaceful & tranquil in Winnetka with the cool breeze and fall colors.

After returning home, I realized I can find similar beauty & tranquility right here in Allen, TX. Here's some views of the pond near our house.

I think after seeing Winnetka, I appreciate my little pond & trail behind my house even more!

Go Cowboys!

The Sunday after Halloween we went to the Cowboy game at the new stadium. It was so fun! Here's the view from our seat. . .

The Fifers came with us, and it was so nice to hang with our good friends.

Thanks to Pops & Nana for the tickets & for watching the kids!!!!

Star Wars visits Allen

Finally, some Halloween pics!! Yes, I know it's a week late. But, better late then never huh???

We had Obi-Wan Kenobi

and Padme Amidala

"No Pictures!!"

but daddy caught one on the sly!

And lastly, but definitely not least, we had Yoda!

"Yoda, that looks a little heavy, want me to carry your bucket?"
"NO! I need LOTS more candy mommy."

Plus Darth Vadar & Princess Leia attempted to join the crew

Our friends Sarah & Josh(soccer player & golfer) joined us which allowed for Mulligan to come along & get some exercise!

It was a fun night of trick or treating.

Here's us preparing a pumpkin to be carved. We roasted the seeds & ate them, but the actual carving never took place. Sad for our pumpkin, but thankfully, or kids didn't know the difference :)

My Sister's New CD!

My sister just released her second CD! We are so excited for her, and the music is great. "Thank You" is my very favorite, but I like all of them. She's a great writer with powerful words. Check it out at her website Carolinecobb.com.

For the next week, you can listen to the new album in full between www.virb.com/carolinecobb and www.myspace.com/carolinecobbmusic.

Be sure to listen to "Next Year" as well. She sings about how crazy it would be if they had a baby, and they found out afterwards that she's pregnant with her first. She's due in early March with a baby girl. We are so excited.

We had a great Halloween weekend. I'll post about that tomorrow. Stay tuned!
