1st week of school

The kids had their first day of school yesterday. I think I was a little more nervous than they were. We're going to a brand new school this year.

This is Cobb with his teacher Ms. Laura.

Cobb is going to a Transitional Kindergarten four days a week from 9-2. Wow. That seems like a lot to me. He is ready, and he will love it. On the other hand, it's hard for me to swallow. My baby is growing up so fast. For the first time, he has more school days than home days.

Charly's first day was yesterday as well. She's going MW. This is Rob, Charly & Ridge on the way to Charly's class.

After drop off, we were left with precious Ridge, who seemed to love every minute of Mom & Dad time. Here he is chillin' in a coffee shop.

When I picked Charly up yesterday, she said, "MOMMY! I didn't be shy, and I didn't cry! I just played!!" She was so enthusiastic about her day, so that made me smile.

When I picked Cobb up, he said that his first day was a "hard day," and that he "didn't like (his) new school." This totally broke my heart. I just prayed so hard that today would be better, especially because he wasn't too excited about going back this morning. When I picked him up today, he had a big smile on his face. I was so relieved.

So overall, I would say our first week of school went pretty well. I'm praying that the 4 day week won't be too much for sweet Cobb. I am grateful for his August birthday, and the opportunity to give Cobb an extra year (or "the gift of time") before we enter Kindergarten at our local Elementary.

Haley,
Griffin has an August birthday, and I'd love to talk to you about this 4 day transition into kindergarten. We're a little bit away from it, but I've been wondering about what options are out there!

So glad that Charly did great and that Cobby loved yesterday. He will do great and it will be so great for Ridge to have that time with you :) Proud of you all for making it through the first week!
