Accountability at 5:30 a.m.

Cobb: Mom! Wake up!
I say nothing
Cobb: Mom! You have to read your Bible.
Me: Cobb, honey, it's 5:30 in the morning. You need to go back to bed.
Cobb: But Mom!
Me: okay. I'm coming.
I sit up, but my eyes are still closed. I fall back to sleep in the sitting position.

Cobb: You're not moving.
Me: You're right. I'm coming
I get up. Cobb runs to the recliner in the other room to wait for me as I gather my coffee & Bible.
Me: Cobb, it really is too early for you to be up.
Cobb: But you are up.
Me: I know Cobb, but mommy tries to wake up before the sun so I can spend some time with God & read my Bible. You need to go back to bed til the sun wakes up. You can go get in my bed with Daddy or go back to your bed. When the sun wakes up, we can read together.
Cobb finally agrees & goes into my room to lay down with daddy.

I'm so thankful for my 5 year old alarm clock. This was one of those mornings when I was going to oversleep for sure. I am a much better Mommy when I spend some time getting perspective before the family wakes & chaos ensues.

In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation. Psalm 5:3 NIV

What a great day ANY day can be when you start, endure and finish it with God. As you were...
